Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems
Code and Maintenance Requirements
Kitchen Fire Suppression systems are required to be maintained in operable condition at all times. Additionally, they are required to be inspected monthly and semi-annually in accordance with NFPA-17 or NFPA-17A, and NFPA-96 standards, a report recorded, and a record tag securely attached. The semi-annual inspections include, but are not limited to, mandatory tasks such as testing the appliance fuel shut-off and ensuring the discharge piping is not obstructed. Unfortunately, not all fire equipment service contractors comply with these requirements which puts unnecessary liability on the client. Please contact our office for more information on the maintenance requirements of your specific equipment.
