Code and Maintenance Requirements

Fire hoses should be maintained in operable condition at all times. They must be inspected annually per NFPA-1962 standards, and a record must be kept on a tag fastened near the female end of the hose. Additionally, pressure testing is required every 3 or 5 years, depending on the age of the hose. Pressure testing should only be performed by a contractor with a clean, inclined facility designed per the NFPA-1962 specifications, not in a parking lot or bare warehouse floor where the hose would be subject to damage and improper test methods.
